In a new blog post, the developers behind Call of Duty’s Ricochet anti-cheat system outline a new “cloaking” measure that makes legitimate players invisible to fraudsters. This effectively makes it impossible for fraudsters to be competitive during a match, even if they are using any illegal software.
“Characters, bullets, even the voices of legitimate players would be undetectable to fraudsters,” the blog post reads. “Legitimate players, however, may see cheaters affected by cloaking … and in-game punishment.” The new cloaking feature is introduced along with the previous anti-cheat measure called Damage Shield, which means a cheater’s bullets won’t do any harm to other players.
Although Team Ricochet is only detailing the cloaking feature for now, it seems to be available in some form or the other. Call of Duty: Warzone At least since mid-February, when a video of the anti-fraud measure was posted on Twitter.

The developers of Call of Duty have banned tens of thousands of cheaters in recent months, but its blog post suggests that allowing cheaters to continue playing in this compromised state could mean “[collect] data that is necessary to identify fraudulent behavior.” It also encourages players to continue to manually report fraudsters so that it can improve its cheat-detection features.
