Two weeks after the conflict between Israel and Hamas erupted, the United States was one of the countries that openly expressed its support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The panorama of the Middle East has not been noticed by the rest of the world and has even created ‘shocks’ due to the position of some leaders.
US Senator Marco Rubio asked for a resolution in the Senate urging Joe Biden to “enforce the law.” It is about those who, in his words, support the activities of Hamas or other foreign terrorist organizations.
During an interview with the program ‘Today with Oscar Haza’ on Mega TV, the legislator approved his position and referred to President Gustavo Petro for not condemning the attack by Hamas.
EE.UU. tiene que aplicar la ley. Es absurdo que en nuestro país hayan personas con visas que simpatizan y apoyan a grupos terroristas. pic.twitter.com/GtNevik3JI

“It is sad to see these presidents, even from a country as important and great as Colombia that has suffered so much at the hands of terrorists, aligning themselves with a group that -or just massacring innocent people. “It’s a shame,” he said.
The legislator said that, as it is, the relations between the two countries should be considered later.
Regarding the revocation of the entry permit, Rubio insisted that he requested an application of the regulations. “The law says that if you support a terrorist group you cannot receive a visa and if you are already here and you speak in favor of a terrorist group, it must be canceled and you must leave,” he said in that interview. .
Rubio questioned “how can we have people visit this country who are not American citizens or residents and who openly support a terrorist group like Hamas. That should not be tolerated and we are not the only ones talking like that; For example, in England they have already taken this step,” he emphasized.
This is not the first time that the US senator has expressed his disapproval of the Colombian administration. On October 16, more than a week after the development in the Middle East, he assured that “great damage” had been done to relations with Israel because of “anti-Israel propaganda.”
What is the scope of the proposal?
Legislator Rubio intends to advance the resolution in the Upper House with fellow senators Marsha Blackburn, Katie Boyd Britt, Rick Scott, Kevin Cramer, JD Vance, Ted Budd, Pete Ricketts, Tommy Tuberville, Ron Johnson, John Cornyn and John Hoeven.
