They say that remembering comes back to life, and that was the case for Florida State’s Chapines with the long-awaited classic of legends between Cremas and Rojos.
The exhibition duel took place on the field at Harris Field Park in Homestead, Florida, and, like in old times, the two biggest teams in our game competed against each other.
On the municipal side, the squad included the following players: Leo Daz, Israel Donis, Claudio Albizuris, Cristian Noriega, Sergio Guevara, Julio Girón, Gonzalo Romero, Guillermo Ramrez, Mario Acevedo, Juan Carlos Plata, Mario Navas, Edwin Villatoro, and Carlos Humberto Ruiz Gutierrez.
Communications, for its part, had Edgar Estrada, Eric Miranda, Carlos Gallardo, Andy Thompson, Juan Manuel Funes, Martin Machon, Jorge Rhodes, Rolando Fonseca, Claudio Rojas, Tyson Nunez, Mario Rodriguez, and Fredy Thompson.
So the table was set so that the compatriots in the north could enjoy the Saturday afternoon and see those who once brought them joy.
As for the actions on the pitch, we could see some footballers maintaining their touch well, which confirms the old saying that goes, “Whoever had, kept”.
This is because at the start of the game, in minute 6, Fredy Thompson smashed it into the pipe from the council team’s goal after a pass from Rolando Fonseca.
The same Fonseca rang the bell, coincidentally with the number he always used, in minute 7, when, with a Chilean by no means sloppy, it brightened the afternoon of the fans who filled the stands of the building to make it 1-0.
Despite the setback, the Reds did not collapse and quickly equalized The scoreboard thanks Julio Girón. Girón parried a well-placed shot after a move started by Fish Ruiz in the 12th minute.
Almost immediately afterwards, the fans’ favorite beat his eternal rival again, namely Julio César de León. At 14, “Rambo” met the fish, and after a beautiful wall, he beat Edgar Estrada with a shot from the corner.
So both teams went to rest with the score at 2-1. After the restart, the game continued at its pace, and at the start of the second half, the White team equalized with a mid-range shot from Sabillón, who left goalkeeper Plata unresponsive.
Already at the end, Edwin Villatoro made it 2:3 after a counterattack and beat the goalkeeper with a lob. However, minutes later, the score was 3-3 with a penalty kick at the feet of Milton Omar “Tyson” Nez.
In this way, the meeting ended with warm greetings between the protagonists and of course the audience, tired of taking photos and collecting signatures from their idols.
