The Carolina Panthers, who along with the Miami Dolphins were the only teams closely associated with Deshawn Watson, will no longer pursue the fighting quarterback from Houston, Texas. according to NFL Network…
The NFL Network reported on Wednesday that Watson had just dropped his dolphin trade ban clause.
Several media outlets have reported that a deal could be struck between the Dolphins and the Texans before the NFL’s November 2 trading deadline.
It’s unclear if other teams are interested in trading on Watson, despite allegations of sexual assault and misconduct in 22 active lawsuits. Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles have also been identified as possible trade bidders, despite Watson’s unsettled legal situation.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said at an owner meeting Tuesday that the league still does not have enough information about lawsuits to decide on possible discipline. He also said there was not enough evidence to put him on the Commissioner’s exempt list and that the league was waiting to see all the information gathered in the lawsuits.
The three-time Pro Bowl quarterback has not played in Houston’s first seven games this season.
