Castro Valley: robbers at gunpoint grabbed a French bulldog and stole a car

Authorities said the family’s beloved dog, captured at gunpoint during a weekend walk, sparked an investigation by Alameda County sheriff’s deputies.

In a statement posted on social media, the sheriff’s office said the woman and her adult daughter were walking Tito, a French bulldog, on Norbridge Road around 5:30 p.m. Saturday when a black 2019 Kia SUV pulled up in front of them. .

According to the statement, the daughter later told sheriff’s investigators that four or five people got out of the Kia, three of whom were holding weapons.

While one suspect took the purse, which contained the woman’s wallet, as well as house and car keys, another snatched Tito away from her daughter. The suspects then ran back to the SUV and drove west along Norbridge.

Around 9:45 p.m. Saturday, suspects came to the woman’s home and stole her 2019 Mercedes AMG C63 coupe from the driveway.

After deputies learned of the theft and questioned the neighborhood, they found security footage and later learned that the Kia had been stolen by Oakland police and used in several previous armed robberies.

“The family just wants him back,” the sheriff-linked social media post said late Sunday morning. “We hope the robbers do the right thing and leave him in a safe place where he can be found and reunited with his family.
