Blake Thomas Maloney fatally shot his father and brother in the head, and two days later beat his mother to death with a hammer – still in the same townhouse in Farmington, according to a murder charge brought against the 26-year-old on Friday.
Maloney, from Farmington, was indicted in Dakota County District Court on three counts of second-degree murder in connection with the murders that were discovered by a police officer Wednesday night after he was summoned to a town house to check on Maloney’s mother.
Killed Maloney’s mother, 53-year-old Tracey Ahn Maloney; his father, 55-year-old Jack John Maloney, who was also Tracy Maloney’s ex-husband; and his brother, 23-year-old Scott Connor Maloney.
A possible motive for the murder is not indicated in the application for the initiation of a criminal case.
In an interview with the investigator, Maloney said he did not believe the three were his family.
On complaint:
Farmington police were sent to the townhouse at 5430 West 183rd Street by phone for a Social Security check at around 9:30 pm Wednesday after a caller identified by the initials “JFS” said her friend Tracey Ahn Maloney had gone to her ex-husband. house in Farmington at 6:00 pm to visit their sons. She said that she could not contact her for several hours.
The officer arrived at the house and knocked on the door, which was ajar, and heard sounds from inside. When Blake Maloney opened the door and said “Hi,” the officer asked him if Tracy Maloney was there and he said she was. The officer asked if he could talk to her, and her son invited the policeman into the house.
Then Maloney raised his hands above his head and said, “I did something. I killed them or something like that, ”the complaint says.
When a police officer confirmed that Maloney meant Tracy Maloney, he handcuffed him and asked where she was. Blake Maloney replied, “She’s up there,” pointing to the top level of the house.
Maloney then told the officer that he killed her with a hammer.
“Then he said,“ I didn’t want to use AR. … I killed Scott, they are not my family, ”the complaint says.
The officer called for reinforcements and began checking the house for Tracy Maloney, finding that she was not responding to the kitchen floor with a yoga mat on her face. She had numerous bruises on her face and a lot of blood on the floor. The officer noticed several injuries to her head caused by hammer blows.
The officer was unable to determine the pulse and decided that she was dead.
The complaint stated that “based on Blake Maloney’s comment that he killed other people,” the officer walked through the town house. In the basement, Jack Maloney was found dead on a bed covered with blankets. Maloney had a gunshot wound to the head; he is the father of Blake Maloney and ex-husband of Tracey Ahn Maloney.

Then the officer went to the second level of the house and saw several closed doors with holes in them. The officer checked the rooms by pushing open the bedroom door, which was difficult to open. There he found Scott Maloney on the floor blocking the entrance to the room. He also had a gunshot wound to the head.
The officers found a bloody hammer at the top of a trash can in the living room and a loaded AR-15 rifle in the living room, leaning against the sofa.
Blake Maloney was taken to the Farmington Police Department and interrogated after he agreed to speak to the officers. During the interview, Maloney told police that he did not believe that “Jack, Tracy and Scott” were his family and that he killed first his brother and then his father by shooting them in the head.
Maloney said he killed them a couple of days before his mother arrived at the mansion on Wednesday.
“He confessed that he killed (his mother) with a hammer because he didn’t want to use the pistol anymore,” the complaint says.
