Chico High field hockey goalkeepers combine for shutout | Local roundup

The Chico High field hockey team registered a 1-0 win at Bella Vista on Monday night.

The Panthers’ goal came off an assist from Kayla Smith on a penalty corner goal from Isabella Valle-Sinder.

Chico, led by Melia Bainbridge, Sophia Taylor, Mia James and Ander Munson Clarke, had an 11-6 advantage in shots.

Hilary Roddy and Natalie Lawrence Potkin spent time in the cage and made three saves each for the Panthers in a shutout victory.

Chico High plays at Corning on Mondays at 5 p.m.

Chico State in Wildcat Classic: High winds of more than 20 mph made it difficult for the first day of the Chico State Men’s Golf Team’s 2021 home tournament at The Links at Rolling Hills in Corning. Winds forced the cancellation of the second round on Monday and teams will play a 36-hole event in the final round on Tuesday.

Chico State finished the first day in fifth place in a 10-team field with a 34-over par, with Stanislaus State topping the line with a 21-over par.

Dakota Ochoa is equal to seven overs and is in 15th position.

Chico State will conclude the tournament on Tuesday and Tuesday before playing at the Otter Invitational at Bayonet Golf Course in the seaside.
