The Chico State Men’s Golf Team finished fifth after a two-day Wildcat Classic on Monday and Tuesday at Links at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Corning.
Stanislav State won the tournament with a score of 21 more, par 597. Matthew Watkins of the Academy of Arts finished best in the singles, scoring 2 times as many par 146 for the tournament.
In gusty winds on Monday and Tuesday, Christopher Kolla, reigning champion from Chico State, finished fourth after two rounds after shooting a par of 150 with six opponents.
Mark Noonan and Mike Stevens of Chico State drew 11 points over, par 155, while Dakota Ochoa hit 15 points, par 159.
Chico State will be competing next Monday and Tuesday at the Otter Invitational at Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside.
College men’s soccer
Feather River 3, Butte 2: Bute got lost on the road on Tuesday. Sander Trevor and Juan Monge scored a goal for the Roadrunners. Monge and Alex Hulmand provided one assist each.
Austin Matthews made three saves at Butte’s goal.
Butte (7-3-1, 3-1 Golden Valley Conference) plays next Friday at 4:00 pm at the College of the Siskiyous.
Prepare girls for volleyball
Pleasant Valley 3, Red Bluff 0: Pleasant Valley won home tuesdays 25-10, 25-16, 25-10 in Fight Like a Viking night.
Emma Dougherty topped PV with 10 kills, and Sofia Winter with seven kills. Delaney Tau had seven aces for the Vikings, while Kira Maguire and Dougherty each added six aces.
In defense, Tau had 12 shots and 18 innings for PV in the team. Kendal Tau and Kenna Chapin conducted 10 excavations each. Keira Maguire topped the PV in assists with 26 assists.
PV (12-13, 5-2 Eastern Athletic League) next at 19:00 Thursday at home against Foothill (15-5, 7-0 EAL).
Preparing girls for tennis
Chico High 9, Foothills 0: Chico High won home tuesday.
Paige Sittangung, Sidney Vaughn, Skylar Granlund, Aubrey Leyland, Kylie Lite and Taylor Seidenstreaker win singles for the Panthers.
The doubles were won by Sittangung and Julia McGarva, Addison Fawkes and Kayleigh Morehead, Alexa Agnew and Claire Schaefer.
Chico High (10-0) will play next October 23rd in the semifinals of the Division I Northern Section Team Championship.
Shasta 6, Pleasant Valley 3: Pleasant Valley (6-7, 4-5 EAL) lost at home on Tuesday.
Mariah Letcher and Alexis Sprotte won the singles, while Kayla Campbell and Rosa Crabbenhof won the doubles.
