This is the second time that the US Seventh Fleet has entered the South China Sea. China has opposed the activity of the US Navy. To this, the Seventh Fleet of the US Navy has also responded in an unusual way, accusing China of illegally trying to obtain maritime rights at the expense of neighboring countries. The US Navy’s Seventh Fleet has said in its statement that the PLA’s statement about the mission is false. After all, what is America’s seventh fleet? Panic in China after 7th Fleet
America’s 7th Fleet has appeared in the South China Sea at a time when Dragon has given a stern warning to America that it should stop military cooperation with Taiwan. General Li Zuocheng recently told his US counterpart General Mark Milley that China has no room for agreement on issues affecting its core interests, including self-governing Taiwan. China, without naming the Quad organization, said that the US is provoking them against Beijing to increase its support in the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. The matter becomes prominent when an audio leak of the Chinese military planning an attack on Taiwan caused a sensation. In such a situation, this seventh fleet of America has caused panic for China.
What is America’s claim?
On the other hand, the US Navy has called China a liar, saying that China has misrepresented American maritime operations. The People’s Republic of China (PRC), Vietnam, Taiwan, Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines each claim sovereignty over some or all of the Spratly Islands, the US Navy Seventh Fleet said in a statement. In violation of international law, the PRC, Vietnam and Taiwan require either permission or advance notification before a military vessel can cross territorial waters. International law does not permit any authorization or advance-notification unilaterally for the direct route. So the US has challenged these requirements. The US has challenged unlawful sanctions imposed by the PRC, Taiwan and Vietnam on direct routes without prior notice or permission from any claimant. The US said such routes are not subject to such restrictions.
What is the strength of the Seventh Fleet of the US Navy
As soon as the name of the Seventh Fleet of the US Navy comes, the enemy’s condition becomes slim. The US Seventh Fleet is the largest forward deployment fleet of the US Navy. The fleet consists of 50 to 70 ships and submarines. The fleet comprises about 150 airplanes. In this, about twenty thousand sailors are ready at all times. This large and powerful Navy team protects American interests in the maritime domain. This Seventh Fleet has been maintaining its presence in the Indian Ocean for more than 75 years. Its activity is in the western Pacific and Indian Ocean region. The area of the Seventh Fleet is more than 124 million square kilometres. It is spread over the Indo-Pakistan region. Its area of operation covers 36 countries. It comprises half of the world’s population.
US Navy 7th Fleet came into limelight last year
Last year, the US Navy’s Seventh Fleet was in the news. The name of this fleet came during the Indo-Pakistan war during the Cold War. In this war the former Soviet Union stood with India and America had shown the threat of its Seventh Fleet against India. Last year, this 7th Fleet came into the limelight due to the Indian perspective. In fact, the naval ship John Pal Jones, included in the Seventh Fleet of America, had carried out one of its operations in India’s Special Energy Zone, 130 nautical miles west, near India’s Lakshadweep group. The special thing is that while doing this, the US Navy did not take permission from India. India had raised its strong objection to this.
