Chris Pratt on Friday called for God, the value of exercise and good Christian music, in what seemed to be a response to fierce online criticism he received Thursday for his Instagram whiplash tribute to his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger and their “healthy” daughter.
In his response via Instagram Story video, Pratt did not directly mention his homage to Schwarzenegger or criticism, which focused on accusing people of secretly shading his first wife, Anna Faris, and being visibly insensitive to their 9-year period. – old son Jack.
Instead, the actor opened his video with a cheerful “Good morning, everyone!” He revealed that he went to bed the night before “upset and depressed,” woke up on Friday “feeling shitty,” and shared his bad mood medicine, the aforementioned God, exercise and music.
On Thursday, a stumbling block for Pratt’s critics was his statement about how Schwarzenegger gave him an amazing life and a “gorgeous healthy daughter,” referring to their daughter Lila Maria, who was born in August 2020.
People were quick to point out that Faris had openly stated that Jack was born with serious health problems.

In his video, Pratt definitely did not mention Faris or the fact that he was accused of unfavorably comparing his son to his “healthy” girl.
Instead, the Guardians of the Galaxy star, wearing a hooded sweatshirt covered in stars and American flag stripes, spoke about her unwillingness to start the day with exercise.
“I knew that if I played my Christian music playlist, went out into the woods and ran, I would feel better. But I just didn’t want to, ”added the star, who openly declares her Christian convictions.
Pratt then shared that he did it anyway: he went to the forest to run, listening to his favorite music and making the blood run.
“Damn it, I was right! It was amazing! “- proclaimed Pratt.” God sat next to me. “
Pratt said he was “not so often emotional,” but he was emotional in the woods and “felt like there was another one on fire next to me.” He seemed to be referring to the song he was listening to when he said, “At that moment, the rally took over me. And so I just want to say: all the glory to God! “
This experience led Pratt to give this recommendation to anyone who wakes up feeling depressed: “Do some exercise, maybe listen to some good worship music, or maybe report it because it really helped me this morning.” …
Pratt probably had reasons to be depressed: on Thursday, Twitter was flooded with comments about how he may have posted something online that could one day harm his son.
One man tweeted: “I love Chris Pratt. but the “healthy daughter” part made me flinch. While he may not have meant it as an insult, in a way it worked out that way. Can you imagine how his son will feel if he ever reads this? “
Another added: “If #ChrisPratt meant it as an insult to an ex for having a son with health problems, then he really is the worst Chris. In addition, it takes two people to conceive a child, #AnnaFaris did not have this child. And his son will read it one day, how sad. “
When Jack was born two months ahead of schedule in 2012, he was diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage and other problems. As Faris wrote in her memoir, according to The Blast, there were fears that health problems would persist.
“The children’s neurosurgeon sat Chris and me in to tell us that Jack has severe cerebral hemorrhage and there is a chance that he may have a developmental disability,” the actress recalled.
The couple had to wait 18 months before they found out that, luckily, Jack had no problem. He would have vision and leg muscle problems, but was expected to fully recover from the surgery and live a normal life. Pratt and Faris divorced in 2018.
Aside from Pratt’s comment about his “healthy daughter,” his tribute sparked controversy in other respects, seemingly reaffirming his place as a polarizing figure in popular culture.
Even with his usual guy charm, he is the target of random and unpredictable outbursts of hostility on Twitter, in part because of his suspected conservative political policies, religious beliefs, and possible support for Donald Trump.
Enough people just don’t like it, as evidenced by the fierce Twitter debate that erupted in October 2020 over who was the best or worst of the Four Hollywood Chrises – Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Chris Pine and Chris Pratt. The Internet swarm began, and people chose Pratt as the one to leave.
As events escalated on Thursday, people were quick to suggest love to Faris on social media, but they also sorted out the language in which Pratt paid tribute to Schwarzenegger, discovering what they felt was annoying or unsettling political and cultural overtones.
The tribute began when Pratt drew attention to the way Schwarzenegger looked at him adoringly in photographs. “Look how she looks at me!” Pratt starts.
Schwarzenegger, 31, is the daughter of action star, ex-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kennedy family member Maria Shriver. She and Pratt got married in 2019.
In his homage, Pratt says they met at church, thanks Schwarzenegger for their “gorgeous healthy daughter,” but then jokes about how “she chews so loud that sometimes I put in headphones to drown it out, but that’s love! “
Then he writes: “She helps me in everything. Instead, I periodically open a jar of pickles. This is trade. Her heart is pure and mine. My biggest treasure is next to my top deck Ken Griffy Jr. Rookie card. Which, if you know, says a lot. “
He ends the post with the words “I love you, dear.”
A debate erupted on Twitter between those who viewed his tribute as “sweet,” “normal,” or a benevolent attempt to be “caustic and self-deprecating,” and those who called him “performative,” “creepy,” “narcissistic,” and “narcissistic.” sexist.
“Damn it, the first line gave me serious narcissistic emotions.” one person wrote… Others noted a conservative sense of masculine rights and ownership and even “toxic masculinity.”
“If you don’t think“ Her heart is pure and it belongs to me ”is thirty-seven consecutive red flags, I don’t know what to tell you, besides, please don’t talk to me, lol” – someone added…
Someone else wrote that Pratt’s post “smells of toxic masculinity and macho culture.”
