Clippers Nicolas Butham ruled out due to health and safety protocols

LOS ANGELES – Clippers forward Nicholas Buttum was scratch late before Sunday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, prepared to miss his matinee in accordance with the league’s health and safety protocols, the team said.

Before the season began, head coach Tyrone Lew said the Clippers had all been vaccinated.

“Our people have been vaccinated,” Lew said during training camp at San Diego State. “We just have to do what the league tells us to do, we try to follow the rules and go from there. And we talked about it last year, being able to adapt and do just that, to play the game we love.

It is the first time this season that the league’s COVID-19-related protocol has affected one of the Clippers, who were one of only three teams last season not to have games rescheduled because of them.

Batum was initially reported as a “disease”, but that designation was soon updated.
