Coca-Cola Europacifics Partners Iberia continues to develop its successful project for a year Circular Sea of awareness, sensitivity and intervention in aquatic environments and re-announced its Circular Seas Awards where it aims to recognize research projects and initiatives that improve knowledge and adopt initiatives that reduce the impact of climate change.
Each prize is endowed 10,000 euros and the term ends on October 31. Coca-Cola’s Circular Seas program has been working since 2018 to help solve the great challenge of the accumulation of waste in the oceans and aquatic environments, with the firm goal of reducing on the impact of human activity on the coasts and transition from linear to circular production. .
In this sense, in addition to a series of actions to raise awareness, Coca-Cola supports research on eco-innovation and the circular economy through the Circular Seas Awards. The initiative is coordinated by Chelonia Association and recognizes scientific and business work that provides solutions to the problem of marine litter and waste.
Alternatives to reduce marine litter
The Circular Seas Awards for scientific projects reward those that significantly increase awareness of the problems and impacts of marine litter and solid waste, offer alternatives for its reduction and provide solutions that promote the circular economy.
In turn, the Mares Circulares Awards for start-ups or business projects recognize initiatives that provide create solutions to environmental problems generated by waste in the marine environment based on the principles and methodology specific to the circular economy or sustainability.
Circular Seas is Coca-Cola’s most ambitious program, carried out in Spain and Portugal, to clean beaches and seabeds, raise public awareness and promote the circular economy through support of new solutions and technologies which combats the problem of marine litter.
