Calti Kaltunkova scored twice in the second period at No. 8 Colgate, who avenged two October losses with a 2-1 win over Minnesota at the Smashville Women’s Collegiate Hockey Showcase on Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee.
The win ended Minnesota’s third-place win streak in 11 games, including a win at Colgate on October 22-23.
Madeline Wethington scored a power-play goal in 2 min 32 seconds of the second period to give Minnesota (12-3) a 1-0 lead before Kaltunkova drew a power-play goal at 13:16 frames. Kaltunkova brought the Raiders ahead with an equal score of 9:33.
Hannah Murphy stopped 28 shots for Colgate (14-4) and Skylar Vetter stopped 22 for the Gophers, who will return to the WCHA game this weekend against high-profile Wisconsin at the Ridder Arena.

Quincy Noble scored 18 points and Amber Dixon added 16 points when North Texas beat St. Thomas in the second round of the Holiday Beach Classic women’s basketball tournament in San Luis Obispo, California.
Jade Hill has 16 points, six rebounds and four assists for Tommy (1-4). Team-mate Joe Langben added 12 points and made a record 10 rebounds.
St. Thomas returns to St. Paul to host Northern Iowa at 7:00 pm Wednesday.
