It was told that on Wednesday, Rajendra Pal, a contractor working at Shailendra Srivastava’s place in Chakeri area of Kanpur, had sought his due payment of Rs 18 lakh. This angered the builder so much that he poured petrol on the contractor and set him on fire. Later the contractor died in the hospital.
The deceased’s son Arvind told that his father Rajendra Pal used to do shuttering work, builder Shyam Srivastava was owed Rs 18 lakh. The son told that whenever the father used to talk about the outstanding money, the builder used to threaten him. The son told that his father had also complained to the police about this. Arvind told that his father had given information about this matter by writing a written application to the DCP but the police did not take any action under the pressure of the builder. Arvind, the son of the deceased contractor, told that his father was making rounds of the officials for the last one year regarding the outstanding money, but no one took any action.
The deceased’s son Arvind told that today the builder called his father Rajendra to his office and beat him first and later burnt him alive by pouring petrol. Arvind himself serves in the army, Arvind says that such negligence of the police with his father has shook him to the core.
On the matter, ACP Mrigank Shekhar said that the builder burnt the contractor alive on asking for money, due to which he died. ACP Mrigank said that the police is taking further action by registering an FIR in the matter. Apart from this, we are also investigating what is being said about the laxity of the police in this matter, he said.
