In Cuba, 1,236 communities in vulnerable situations have been identified and 96 percent of them are in the process of comprehensive transformation. In general, transformation projects are carried out there that aim to find solutions to the main problems and thus achieve changes in the styles and ways of life of the people who live there. in these areas.
This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Martha Elena Feitó Cabrera, in a meeting that took place this Wednesday where the comprehensive change work done by communities, groups, families, households and people in situations of crisis analyzed. . The exchange was led by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella considers that the attention given to this is a priority issue, amid the implementation of all the economic measures designed as part of the Government’s projects. to correct distortions and economic recovery in 2024.
The defense of social programs in the current economic situation, he appreciated, is the defense of socialism, the defense of social justice, and therefore, it is necessary to perfect this work.
Commenting on the main aspects that will end in 2023, the Minister of Labor and Social Security explained that, along with the development of the prevention groups of popular councils, social workers continue to be added to these tasks, favoring the personalized. attention to families in vulnerable situations.
The direct and expressed work with the delegates and institutions located in the constituency is essential to achieve everything we propose, he emphasized during the exchange, which was directed by the member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz.
As part of the actions carried out by the communities, the participation of 25,100 people to work, 8,020 of them young people, and 2,335 in training courses. Likewise, 2,698 youths joined the study and 1,390 benefited from the access to fertile lands.
Especially regarding the care of mothers with three or more children, Feitó Cabrera emphasized that at the end of last year, 4,222 were employed and 276 entered the study; 829 are in employment training courses; 2,600 benefited from cash benefits, temporary and conditional; 5,398 were given material resources; 573 received a house and 878 were given the capacity to join their children in daycare.
Along with the protection of Social Assistance in these communities, he pointed out that there will be 186,112 families that will benefit from it in 2023, both with cash benefits, services or resources.
Among other actions carried out by the communities, it aims to deliver subsidies to carry out constructive actions; minor repairs to houses and construction of others; eliminating dirty floors; as well as contracts for the acquisition of beds, mattresses, furniture and more.
At the end of the meeting, the President of the Republic appreciated that, even among the limitations that exist in the country, the work does not stop in communities in vulnerable situations, where living conditions have improved. He mentioned the recovery of medical offices, the rehabilitation of water pipes, the construction of sidewalks and streets where there were none before, the opening of shops, pharmacies, and other works, all this among a very difficult year for Cuba. from an economic point of view.
