Cuban-American Linear Dominguez seeks United States throne

Cuban-American Grand Master Linear Dominguez will begin his fourth participation in the United States Championship tomorrowIn which 14 players will participate this time.

Dominguez, who represented the great northern nation at this year’s Chennai Olympiad, will start among the favorites with Fabiano Caruana, Levon Aronian and Wesley So, winners of the last two editions of the event.

In the current FIDE rankings, Güinero is ranked twelfth with an ELO of 2747 points, only eight from the tenth stage.

The former top Cuban board has not stopped being among the 15 highest ELO chess players on the planet since June 2019, and has never been below the 2700-point barrier since July 2008.

In addition to them, young Thalia Cervantes will fight at the American Fair, who will face 13 opponents.

let’s remember that Dominguez was about to prevail in the 2019 edition (he was second half point behind Hikaru Nakamura), and in the two subsequent appearances he anchored the fourth. Meanwhile, Cervantes made his debut in these competitions in 2020 (he was the last) and repeated the following year with an exciting position in the middle of the table.
