Cuban beach volleyball pair crowned at NORCECA U-23 tournament

Noslen Díaz and Jorge Luis Alayo are part of the first Cuban duo to win the volleyball tournament between the North, Central American and Caribbean confederation, NORCECA U-23, which takes place in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The victory happened this Sunday.

According to a report in a special portal Kill, The Cubans easily dominated Costa Ricans Julian Araya and Justin Varela with partial scores of 21–15 and 21–12 in 34 minutes.

A perfect battle ensued between Noslen and Jorge Luis as they added five successes in a row; Two in Group C against the teams of Canada and the Dominican Republic, in the quarter-finals against the Guatemalans Jimaguas Yoel and Christopher Guardado and in the semi-finals against the Nicaraguans Cassante and Meneses.

The other Canadian pair of Cameron Chadwick and Tynan Gannett defeated Nicaraguan Jefferson Cascante and Josu Meneses (21-16, 21-15) to win the bronze medal.

Francisco Alvarez Coutino’s protégé will fulfill another important commitment in Punta Cana next weekend when the NORCA qualifying tournament for the World Championships takes place in Tlaxcala, Mexico, from October 6 to 15.
