Cuban baseball player Yunior Ibarra, considered one of the best catchers today, did not return to the island after the end of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) season in Canada.
Baseball reporter Francys Romero pointed out the athlete’s absence and also said that the other three players contracted by the Cuban Baseball Federation in the same league (infielder Raúl González and pitchers Yamichel Pérez and Yadián MartÃnez) performed.

At 28, the Sancti SpÃritus native was among the group of six receivers selected for national selection for the Pan American Games in Santiago, which will take place from October 20th to November 5th.
He participated in 10 National Series as part of the Roosters team and had a .219 average with six home runs in 1,063 at-bats. For the Kirchen Panthers, with whom he played in Canada, he posted a .270 batting average in 35 at-bats.
Cuban volleyball player Ellemay Santa Miranda remains in Canada
Curiously, Ibarra was not the only Cuban athlete to be in the North American country in recent days, as it was confirmed this week that it was volleyball player Ellemay Santa Miranda did not return to the island after his trip to Quebec.
The national volleyball team traveled to Canada to compete in the 2023 NORCECA Senior Volleyball Women’s Continental Championship, which took place from August 29 to September 3.
As the portal CubanSp1ke confirmed on social networks, the athlete waited for the end of the tournament to leave, with her team noticing her absence until it was time to board the flight back to Havana.
Santa Miranda held the position of libero within the national team, a very important position, so his departure represents a hard blow for his team and for the Institute of Sports and Physical Recreation (Indians).
As time goes on, more and more athletes join the list of athletes who decide to distance themselves from the Cuban sports authorities during their stay abroad because they are looking for better opportunities, something that will never happen on the island.
