Cubans and Angolans reaffirm their commitment to common history

Promoted by the Association of Angolan cadets and precadets studying in Cuba (Assopreca), and with the participation of the representation of Caimaneros (a group of students who graduated from the island), the Cuban ambassador here, Oscar León, was present at the meeting.

The date could not have been better chosen, both parties emphasized, since February 4, 1961, is considered the beginning of the armed struggle for the independence of the lands from Portuguese colonialism.

The occasion served to approve the bonds of friendship and to pay tribute to the Angolan heroes, as well as to remember the unconditional help of the men and women of the Caribbean country who gave their blood and their lives for the cause. in this country.

On behalf of Assopreca, Claudio Lopes emphasized that they are always on the side of Cuba, where there is an indestructible brotherhood made in the most difficult moments of the Angolan homeland.

“We are one people and one country,” he emphasized, adding that the members of the organization learned on the island all about unity and the conviction that together we are stronger.

He condemned the economic, commercial, and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba and all actions that seek to destroy its sovereignty.

The military attaché of the Cuban embassy, ​​​​​​Enrique Kindelán, for his part remembers the epic of February 4, the heroism of the Angolans and the meaning of this country for Cubans, where we contribute to the construction of its history.

He promoted Assopreca and its solidarity with the Caribbean country at different times: in the permanent fight against the blockade, solidarity in the face of meteorological events, the fight for the return of the child Elián González and the five anti-terrorist fighters imprisoned in the United States, etc.

This special affection and support were recognized by the Cuban ambassador, who presented a diploma to the president of the association, Alfredo Boavida, in honor of the organization’s contribution to strengthening the friendship between the two peoples.

León thanked Assopreca for its brotherhood and welcome and called for us to continue together in defense of shared values ​​and principles.
