Cycling star Matthew van der Poel has been fined, following his argument with two teenagers.
The 27-year-old has to pay around 1,000 euros because he is said to have pushed a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old girl the night before a race for the World Championships in Wollongong, Australia. This is reported by the Dutch newspaper “De Telegraaf”.
Two teenagers repeatedly knocked on the Dutchman’s door before the race, disturbing his sleep. The matter was to come up for hearing on Tuesday, but it was brought forward at the request of the defense counsel.
The judge ruled that van der Poel had taken the law into his own hands. It was worth calling the hotel security service. Defense counsel immediately appealed against the fine. Despite this, van der Poel can begin the journey home.
