The holidays are almost over, and the return to school in 2023 is only a few days away. However, if you were planning to go out last weekend, check the weather forecast carefully as a cyclone and Mexican monsoon threaten heavy rains in up to 25 states.
According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), there is a high possibility that two hurricanes, namely Irwin and Jova (in that order), will form on the Pacific coasts in the next few days, and one of them could reach the country.
But while the low-pressure zone near the country forms a second low-pressure zone with cyclonic potential in the Atlantic, the monsoons, humidity drops, and other climate phenomena will mean that on Friday, August 25, it will rain heavily in the areas of Chiapas, Guerrero, Michoacan, Oaxaca, Tabasco, and Veracruz.
If you go out that day, don’t forget to bring your umbrella because the fall of the water will be very strong in Campeche; Puebla; Quintana Roo; San Luis Potosi; Tamaulipas; and Yucatán; as well as strong in Chihuahua; Colima; Jalisco; Nayarit; Nuevo León; Sinaloa; and Sonora.
In which states will the monsoon bring heavy “rain” on Saturday, August 26?
And if you are planning to go out on Saturday 26th August, the last holiday before returning to school, take precautions as the two cyclone-potential lows, monsoons and other weather phenomena will “hit”. Heavy rain in at least 21 states.
Campeche, Colima, Guerrero, Michoacán, and Quintana Roo will suffer the most heavy rain according to the SMN forecast.
Hold on too, because it will rain very heavily in Chiapas, Oaxaca, San Luis PotosÃ, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, and Yucatan.
The fall of the water will be strong in Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Morelos, Nayarit, Puebla, Sinaloa, and Tlaxcala.
How strong will the cyclone (Irwin or Jova) be by Sunday, August 27th?
This is expected to happen on the last day of vacation, Sunday, August 27. The Pacific Depression becomes a tropical cyclone, which, together with the low-pressure zone of the Atlantic, the monsoon, and other phenomena, causes heavy rainfall in up to 25 countries.
Stay informed and take your precautions as these are predictable torrential rains in Colima, Jalisco, Guerrero, and Michoacan; as long as they will be intense in Campeche and Quintana Roo; and very strong in the states of Chiapas, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Tabasco, and Veracruz.
“The forecast rains ranging from heavy (25 to 50 mm), very heavy (50 to 75 mm), and heavy (75 to 150 mm) could lead to an increase in the level of rivers and streams, landslides, and flooding in rainfall and precipitation lead areas of the mentioned states”, warns the SMN.
However, with less intensity, it is convenient for you to carry your umbrellaHeavy rains are expected in Aguascalientes, Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Morelos, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potos, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, and Zacatecas.
2023 Hurricane Season: What Next Hurricanes Will Form in Mexico?
After Hurricane Hilary and the remnants of Tropical Storm Greg made landfall in Mexico, the SMN forecasts that there is a high probability of three more hurricanes forming in the next week and that two of them can touch land.
On the Pacific side, there is an 80 percent chance that a depression will form in the next seven days. while another (the one that could make landfall) is a cyclone 70 percent of those in the same period. If it escalates, it would be both Irwin and Jovarespectively.
While there are three lows on the Atlantic coast, only one has a 60 percent chance of forming in the following week, and that is the one that can reach Mexican territory. Should it intensify, it would be Idalia.
