Cyclone Yaas: Effect started in West Bengal and Orissa, cyclone will soon turn into storm

Cyclone Yaas is moving towards West Bengal and Odisha. The cyclone will form a very strong storm in the next 24 hours. Ysas will hit Orissa and West Bengal on May 26. The meteorological department said the wind speed would be 155 to 165 kmph during this period.

People have been evacuated from the coast to safety from Cyclone Yaas. As well as NDRF and Navy have also been deployed. As well, the home ministry has assured both the states that the central government is ready to assist them 24 hours a day.

According to the meteorological department, Cyclone Yaas is 200 km from Paradip in Orissa. Is in the southeast. It could turn into a very severe hurricane in the next 6 hours. Which could hit the coast south of Balasore and north of Dhamra port on Wednesday.

The effects of the hurricane have started in West Bengal. In which the sea level has risen, heavy rains are falling and the wind speed has also increased. The sea has become stormy with strong winds in Rameshwaram taluka of Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu.

The army has been deployed around Digha Sea Beach in West Bengal following the Ysas. The cyclone reached 420 km from Didha, 430 km from Baleshwar and 320 km from Paradip. According to official sources, troops are being deployed in Dikha as a precautionary measure to deal with the hurricane and a team of 60 troops is ready. NDRF and paramilitary forces have been deployed here.

In Orissa, the IMD said winds of 150-160 kmph could blow in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak and Balasore tomorrow. While landslides are expected by noon. Dhamma and Paradip have issued the highest threat warning for the ports.

The meteorological department also issued red alerts for Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Balasore on Tuesday and Wednesday. It also warned of heavy rains on Tuesday and Wednesday. Other areas like Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khorda and Puri are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rains.
