Running back, Dalvin Cook returned to practice for the Vikings on Wednesday, but five starters appeared to be sitting outside.
Cook has missed two of the last three games with an ankle injury, including a 19-17 win over Detroit last Sunday.
During part of practice open to the media, not working in practice were Michael Pierce, linebacker Anthony Barr, defensive end Everson Griffen and wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen. Everyone is starting.
Of the five, only Pierce (Elbow), whose position is uncertain for Sunday’s game in Carolina, sat against the Lions. Everyone else finished the game.
Also running back was Alexander Mattison, who did not appear for practice on Wednesday, who has run over 100 yards in two games, missed Cook, and hit Ben Ellefson hard. There was wide receiver Ihmar Smith-Marsett (toe) off to practice after sitting out the last two games.
Ellefsson’s position for Sunday’s game is uncertain. The Vikings retained Brendan Dillon in Tuesday’s practice squad, indicating that he may play against the Lions. And on Wednesday, he added Luke Stocker to the practice squad and released tackle Jack Bailey from the team.
