According to published reports, the 38-year-old fighter died after falling in the ring on Saturday while facing Ugandan legend Hamza Wandera in a fight in Munich, Germany.
“We lost our compatriot Musa Askan Yamak, a boxer from Alucra who won the European and Asian Championships after suffering a heart attack at a young age,” Hassan Turan via Twitter.
According to published reports, the undefeated fighter Yamak took a heavy blow from Wandera in the second round of the fight and tried to come out to fight in the third round.
But, before the start of the round, Yamak entered the ring.
The medics arrived in the ring, but could not revive the light-heavyweight boxer, as the onlookers watched in shock.
Yamak was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead of a heart attack.
The German fighter was undefeated in 75 professional bouts. He had an 8–0 record with eight knockouts.
The Turkish-born Yamak turned pro in 2017 but gained popularity after winning the WBFed international title in 2021.
