Dandies around the world unite annually in a race against prostate cancer. @gentlemansride
Last Sunday the 21st, the prestigious Gentlemen’s Ride was held, a global event that seeks to raise money for the fight against prostate cancer
It’s a motorized crusade and there are only two requirements to participate: get an old motorcycle and wear your prettiest clothes.
Its founders were inspired by a photograph of Don Draper, the remembered character from Mad Men, to summon dandies from around the world.
They say a gentleman never goes out of style. And more, we’ll add, if there’s a good reason for it. Last Sunday, the streets of Madrid were invaded by hundreds of motorized gentlemen (and ladies, by the way) dressed in their most dandy outfits, out riding their most classic and vintage motorcycles with one purpose in mind: money. To raise funds to fight prostate cancer and male mental illness.
It is the global phenomenon of motorized ride-hailing The Distinguished Gentleman Ride, taking place simultaneously in nearly 800 cities around the world since 2012.

inspired by mad men
Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride (DGR) was founded in Sydney, Australia by Mark Howa. He was inspired to do this by a photo of Don Draper from Mad Men, riding a classic motorcycle and dressed in his best suit. Mark decided that a themed ride would be a great way to combat the often negative stereotype of male bikers, as well as a great way to connect and bring biker communities together. A year after its creation, DGR partnered with Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia and since then they have shared the goal of raising funds for research into the disease.

This year itself this figure has crossed six lakhs. ideal sentence? “Get on your bike and ride around the heart of your city for Men’s Health.” There are registered pilots from 27 cities in Spain alone.

Participants’ donations are voluntary, but the participants’ elegance and uniqueness do not stay abroad: their contributions have led to the improvement of men’s health through research on prostate and testicular cancer, through the Movember Foundation, to the fight against mental illnesses such as mental illness. Also contributed. Anxiety or depression, which are often stigmatized in men. Therefore, part of the success of the event is helping to make these problems visible in an atmosphere of optimism. Because if there’s anything better than a gentleman, it’s a healthy gentleman. Of course, always on the back of a nice motorcycle.
