Do INAPAM cards disappear? we know this

In Mexico, seniors aged 60 and over have the right to apply for their card at the National Institute for the Elderly (INAPAM), which offers economic benefits to its beneficiaries such as discounts on several basic products or services and with this card is one of the most important for the elderly.

In this sense, beneficiaries who have this card and it is valid, should present it only in establishments or services where discounts for seniors are valid.

However, INAPAM would disappear as a decentralized body of the Welfare Secretariat and will be an administrative unit of the same federal dependency by the reform initiative proposed by the Government of Mexico, therefore, doubts about what will happen to the INAPAM cards that provide discounts to the elderly.

For his part, the Secretary of the Interior (Segob), Adán Augusto López, said Wednesday that the federal government will guarantee the protection of the rights of INAMPAM beneficiaries. He also recalls that the initiative on decentralized bodies remains in the commissions of the Chamber of Deputies and must also pass by the Senate of the Republic to be approved.

“Of course, all rights such as workers’ benefits are duly protected, safeguarded and the agreements are fully in force,” Segob boss Adán Augusto López reiterated in the morning press conference.

In addition to this, he specified that it is possible that the INAPAM card could be changed to collect support through the pension fund, but this depends on what Congress decides once the reform has been discussed.

If you have already turned 60, you can apply for your INAPAM card and get discounts on some products, services, and tax payments.
