Do you know the effects of climate change on the Canary Islands?

Making the population in general and the students, in particular, aware of the causes and ways to reduce climate change in the islands is the purpose of the exhibition on the effects of climate change in the Canary Islands, which can be visited at the Polytechnic Institute of Vocational Training Marítimo Pesquera de Canarias (Lanzarote Fishing School) between January 30 and February 9, 2014.

The exhibition, requested by the Biosphere Reserve and the Fisheries School, has 41 panels that explain the general causes of climate change on the planet, the most obvious effects, and also the indirect ones in the ecosystem of the archipelago. It also highlights existing solutions to mitigate these impacts, highlighting the necessary changes in productive sectors, regulations, and daily practices.

Organized by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change, and Territorial Planning in collaboration with FECAM and created by the Green Offices of the Canary Islands, the exhibition offers a tour of the islands to bring the population closer to one issue that is not usually addressed outside the most populated and industrialized areas and that, however, affects all the territories of the island.

For those visiting the exhibition, there is a guided tour service provided by environmental facilitators, who manage the interpretation and adaptation of the exhibition routes according to the profile and needs of the people attending.

Guided tour hours for the general public take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays during each peak hour from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and last approximately 50 minutes.
