Doctors lodged their complaint with Trelew Zonal Hospital director Fernando Bovcon for not having dinner as a result of kitchen staff strikes in ATE and Sisap. The forceful operation was carried out on Tuesday and Wednesday, and as a result, health workers had to stock up on food bought outside the hospital.
Agremedch, a union representing doctors, made Dr. Bovcon responsible for the incident as “he was aware of the situation and promised to solve it”, they explained from the sector.
The strike by ATE and Sisap was consistent with non-payment of the tariff, which should have been paid some time ago. “Because of this act of violence, the kitchen staff decided not to cook for the hospital attendants; These include biochemists and radiologists, among others,” explained Agremedch Treasurer Verónica Kamandaro.
The information from the doctors’ union was received at 18:00. And the other directors solved it by buying groceries and other things,” he added.
“Bovcon promised to resolve the situation,” but that day at around 10:30 p.m., “the professionals noticed that there would be no food and they would have to buy their own dinner,” he said.
The chairman expressed that the union “would intervene to ensure that people do not go without food and that they do not have to pay out of their own pockets, but as the director promised to take responsibility, we did not intervene.” In short, it was getting late, and there was nothing we could do.
Afterwards, “we asked to speak to the director of the hospital,” but “none of the managers were in the building.” It also happens that the doctors on duty “don’t clean the room, don’t change the sheets, or give them toilet paper—things that the state has to pay for because they work 12 hours.”
Because of what happened, “we hold the hospital management responsible beyond the strike because they knew” what was being addressed. He even “committed to a solution, but nothing happened”.
