Given this, a group of scientists from the United States of America conducted an experiment that revealed the truth of this hypothesis.

The trial included 16 participants who were subjected to two diets each day for 6 days. The first consisted of eating very early, that is, at least 6 hours before bedtime, and the second was only 2 hours before.

In the experiment, all participants followed the same eating plan and ate the same amount of nutrients. In addition, they perform the same activity and sleep for the same number of hours as they are exposed to light, which has an effect on appetite and food intake.

According to the results of the study, which was published in the Journal of Cell Metabolism, indeed, eating late and a few hours before bed affects a person’s weight and he is at a greater risk of gaining weight.

According to what has been reported, when entering into the comparison of both diets, it is established that eating consumed only 2 hours before sleeping, three things that are affected by the weight gain cause: appetite control, expenditure (calories burned) and the metabolism of fat tissue.

The researchers explained that eating late caused the appetite to increase and the calories burned to decrease, which changed the pathways involved in lipid metabolism.
