What happened last week with the price of the dollar?
Allison Perez, currency trader at Renta4SAB, explained that the market was very volatile and demand came from offshore, while supply came from non-residents. Similarly, at an average price of S/3.6945, USD 334 million was negotiated in the market.
Meanwhile, the dollar opened higher globally due to positive data from the United States. “Expectations are growing that the United States will not be able to pass the debt ceiling, as to date they have not reached an agreement, given that the deadline is June 1, by which date the United States may run out of funds.” Maybe,” said Perez.
On the other hand, ratings agency Fitch has threatened to downgrade the northern country’s rating which currently stands at “AAA”, as there has been no progress on debt ceiling talks.
