Easter events welcome children and adults

Spring is in the air, and the Easter egg hunt and events are upon us.

In Corning, the first Jaden’s Jamboree Egg Hunt takes place on Saturday at the Community Skate Park in Toomes Park at 1485 Toomes Ave. The event is named in honor of Corning resident Jaden Oaks, who died in July 2021. Colon cancer at age 13. Many local individuals, businesses, the Pascenta Band of Nomalaki Indians, and the city of Corning donated to make the celebration possible, including people from the surrounding area and as far away as Sacramento and Tennessee.

The event is free and will include Easter Bunny pictures, carnival games, crafts, face painting, bike pictures, two jump houses, prize eggs with winning baskets, and more. The program is open to all children ages zero to 18, with separate areas for different age groups. An access area will be set up for an inclusive egg hunt, which begins at 11:30 a.m. and includes beeper eggs for blind children. Helium balloons will be attached to the eggs for children using wheelchairs or walkers. Sign-up to collect tickets at the informational tent.


Rabbit Bill: Rabbit Hole Thrift Shop is holding an Easter egg hunt on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. at Riverbend Park’s soccer field at 50 Montgomery St. There will be Easter baskets, goodie bags, toys and raffles for gift certificates. Check-in is from 3:30 to 4:15 and raffles will be from 4:15 to 4:30. The hunt begins at 4:30 p.m. Call the Rabbit Hole Thrift Shop at 588-5719 for more information.

south side: A Southside Community Center Easter egg hunt at Martin Luther King Park will take place at 2921 B St. Oroville on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 300 bags of candy will be provided, plus a free barbecue, a Easter eggs will also be given. Chico MarketplaceChico Marketplace will host the Spring Festival and Easter Egg Hunt from 11 a.m. onwards. Friday at 3 p.m. in the Eastern parking lot. Along with the Easter Bunny, there will be a bounce house, face painting, balloon tying, food trucks, a petting zoo, and more. Radio station 102.1 Power Disc Jockey will play the music. Age three and egg hunts are at 11:15 a.m., ages four and five at noon, ages six to eight at 1 p.m. and ages 9 to 10 at 2 p.m.

Vasant Jamboree: The Chico Area Recreation and Park District hosts the annual Spring Jamboree Festival and Egg Hunt at Caper Acres Playground and Sycamore Field on Saturdays. The event is free and includes crafts, bounce houses, face painting, games, music and selfies with the Easter Bunny. Egg hunt is for children under 12 years old. Ages 0 to 3 hunt at 10 a.m., ages 4 to 5 at 11:15 p.m., ages 6 to 12 hunt at noon, and sens- ational egg hunts at 12:45 p.m. Environment for children 0 to 12 years old with sensory sensitivity. The hunt will take place at the end of the Spring Jamboree to ease the crowd, the music will be turned off and all the eggs will be in easily accessible locations. Eager egg hunters will fill their baskets with all the plastic eggs they can carry and will exchange them for a nice bag once the job is done. Spring Jamboree radio partner Bob FM 92.7 will play music, provide Sweet Chico confections and Schubert’s ice cream and candy goodie bags, food and drinks will be sold by vendors at the Fork in the Road organization, and the Chico Creek Nature Center will have some of the animals on display. chatChico: The Chico Housing Action Team Pancakes for Chat Easter event takes place on Sundays from 8 a.m. to noon at the Chico’s Area Recreation and Parks District Office at 545 Valombrosa Ave. The egg hunt will take place at 10:30 am. The program includes a pancake breakfast. Fresh ground whole wheat pancakes, corn cakes for a vegetarian option and gluten-free ones with real maple syrup. Scrambled eggs, fruit, sausage, organic juices and organic coffee will also be served. This event is a fundraiser to help the homeless. There will also be a silent auction. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12. CHAT is requesting dyed easter eggs for the egg hunt. To donate eggs, call Bob Trush, Vice President of the Chat Board at 518-8509. Items are also required for a silent auction. Call Sheldon Praiser, Treasurer of the Chat Board at 591-5655, to discuss donated items. All COVID-19 restrictions will remain in force at the time of the event.


Lions Club: The Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt takes place on Saturday mornings at 11 a.m. at 194 Washington St. in Vieira Park. This annual event is open to all children aged zero to nine. Sports grounds will be made from 9 am to 1 pm.
