Since the first days of June, Marcelo Ebrard and Ricardo Monreal have been negotiating with the leadership of the Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) for his eventual candidacy for the presidency of the republic.
According to MC executives and lawmakers consulted by Latin, the meetings took place in the Senator’s office, Dante Delgado Rannauro’s; first he did it with Monreal and then with Ebrard.
The Morenistas analyzed the possibility of running from MC for the presidency, for which Senator Delgado put a condition: in order to move forward, it was necessary that both withdraw from the Morena poll or decline in the first days of the tours they did. Called “Corcholatas”.
“The agreement was that they would not achieve that on September 6th—that is, tomorrow when the results of the polls are released—but they are still there, awaiting the miracle,” confided one MC lawmaker.
None refused, and since Tuesday, June 6, the Emecist leader has publicly warned that he would not accept any brunette figure seeking the presidency of Mexico, in addition to the fact that as a political force, they would go to the June 2nd elections alone.
Although the Morenistas didn’t accept Dante’s condition, the talks have not been interrupted, an MC lawmaker confided, as they have continued at restaurants including Estoril and Galea.
Since the proselytizing period of the so-called “Corcholatas” took place from June 19 to August 27, the meetings were chaired by Representatives Ebrard and Monreal, who have worked with them on foreign affairs and in the Senate.
According to the EMECists, their leadership met with Ebrard officials when there was a crisis when the former Foreign Secretary requested it, they included one of the pollsters suggestions.
Faced with the refusal, the former Foreign Minister’s team was asked to leave the Morenista meeting by phone, having suffered several “brussles” in recent days, such as the refusal of his question, “Who should the candidate be?” of the promised money because the campaign was carried out with a considerable delay.
