Endesa has reduced its emissions by 80% since signing the Kyoto protocol

The signing of the Paris Agreement in 2015 represents an unprecedented climate change challenge for Endesa, with the establishment of ambitious climate change goals that mark the Road map for the establishment of company strategy in different strategic plans, as revealed in a press release.

Since the entry into force of the Paris Agreement, Endesa its emissions have decreased by 67% since 2015 and more than 80% since 2005, when the Kyoto Protocol was implemented. A milestone that puts Endesa at the forefront of the fight against climate change and shows the company’s commitment to the present and the future of our planet.

With the goal of becoming a NET Zero company by 2040, Endesa aims to have a 100% renewable production for the same date.

“We are experiencing a critical moment, where scientific evidence and the ambition of new climate goals cause a comprehensive update of the law, which undoubtedly affects all sectors of the economy. Companies must rise to the occasion and make significant changes in our operations, promoting more ambitious sustainable transformation plans in terms of decarbonization,” said Jorge Pina, director of the environment in Endesa.

Strategic plan 2024-2026

The company has a new strategic plan for the period 2024-2026, in a context of higher financial costs and inflation that may affect the pace of electrification of the economy. This situation, together with the necessary perspective on critical regulatory issues at the national and European level, leads the company to recalculate your future route schedule and to refocus the pillars and growth strategies, he reported in a press release.

For the period 2024-2026, the three strategic axes of Endesa are: cost effectiveness and the flexibility, with a model of external partners and asset rotation, when deciding the destination of investments; THE efficiency and effectiveness in operations, with greater cost control and maximization of cash generation; and, finally, the financial and environmental sustainability.
