Is it suicidal? A murder with a knife or a gun? A sudden death? Once they had this kind of information, Manuel and his employees disinfected the whole house and continued to clean it without leaving a single corner or making any mistakes.
Almost 11 years ago, Manuel González founded Limpiezas Traumáticas González in Hellín (Albacete) to help his unemployed children. The family business that was born as a “normal” company that cleans offices, stairs, banks, or schools has become a national benchmark in its sector in five years.
They have intervened in the most high-profile murder cases, such as the psychopath who killed a family in Pioz (Guadalajara) or the crime of the woman from Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona), but for them, commented the founder, “It doesn’t matter. “Wherever or whatever the case is called, they are all a tragedy.”
As the first company in Spain with these characteristics, they work on all types of events. “We dedicate ourselves to cleaning places where there is murder, suicide, or where someone dies, which happens often,” explained Manuel, who decided to specialize in the field as soon as he saw its existence.
He discovered this as a result of a “more dangerous” job sent to him by social services. «He is an old man who bled to death in the mountains of Madrid. “It wasn’t very good,” he recalls.
For the first job, they didn’t know how to proceed and they didn’t know the most effective materials, but they managed to clean it and since then they have received many calls. Now they work in apartments, houses or hotels, “where many crimes or suicides also happen.”
The first thing is to know how the death occurred and adapt the equipment to each scenario. With the legal permission to access the house in hand, they continue to disinfect the environment using ozone cannons and all kinds of chemicals.
“We enter places where people have infectious diseases, such as COVID at the time,” explained Manuel, not forgetting that blood, once it has spilled, is a breeding ground for infection, bacteria and viruses. .
Therefore, they can work in PPE suits, booties, gloves, masks, hats and screens to cover their faces. It is also important to put mint ointment on your nose to relieve the strong smell. “Getting rid of the smell is one of the worst things,” he said. In a crime “the smell of a lot of blood, of iron,” but when they encounter decay it is completely different.
Another difficulty faced by cleaners is worms. “They come out like a procession,” he joked. At the moment they bring chemicals that can burn it immediately, but this is a very expensive task because they get, for example, into cracks or door frames and force them to lift the property piece by piece. “It affects us, of course. “How can it not affect us?” said Manuel in relation to his work. «We are parents, brothers, children… The work of the Police is also difficult, but they are ready. ” Nobody prepared us,” he said.

“We are driven, first of all, by motivation and because we are already good professionals. We are very careful and we give families a lot of peace of mind,” he said. If, for example, they have to take the mattress that completely stained with blood, they stop wrapping it and sealing it so that the mother or father or other loved one “will not suffer or see any more.”
Courts or neighborhoods
When a person dies and there is no next of kin, many times the neighborhood community itself contributes to the cost of the entire cleanup.
“They are interested in cleaning that as soon as possible and making sure it doesn’t break, because insects can get through the pipes and go to other floors,” Manuel emphasized. Therefore, they must have millimeter precision and be infallible.

And can the killer call you? According to the businessman, when the perpetrator called them and they left the property in front of his house.
“I was surprised he stayed, I told him ‘I feel like he’s cleaning up your mother’s blood.’ Then we found out he was the killer,” he recalled.
In any case, Manuel assures that this is not common and as soon as he notices the client’s strange behavior he will contact the authorities.
