Exail-SfS to Develop Mine Countermeasures for the Royal Australian Navy

Exail, formerly the ECA Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Silicon to Australian company Solutions, to collaborate in providing advanced data management capabilities that enable Navy crews to prepare their fire countermeasures missions. Tactical for Mine Warfare, designed to enhance the effectiveness of Naval Diving Forces for Mine Warfare and Demining (MCD) capabilities. MINTACS mine warfare extends the scope of intervention areas and manages the history of past missions. Under this MoU, Exail teams will integrate and interface SfS’s MINTACS software with Exail’s MCM solutions.

The MINTACS software modules will also integrate with Exail’s UMISOFTTM Mission Management System (MMS). The combination of both software will allow crews to compare data between missions, detect changes between studies, and prepare for future MCM missions.

“The collaboration with SfS enables Exail to integrate MINTACS, a world-renowned Mine Warfare Data Center (MWDC) into Exail’s Unmanned MCM Integrated Solution (UMISTM). In addition to MINTACS, Exail integrates modules developed by SfS into UMISOFTTM Will also integrate into MMS, enhancing its interoperability with other MWDCs and third party systems by offering military, hydrographic and environmental interfaces. The integration of MINTACS into our solution for the Latvian Navy was the first step towards a long-term cooperation with SfS ,” said Daniel Skorczyk, vice president of strategic programs at Excel.

MINTACS is currently in service with navies around the world including Australia, UK, Sweden, New Zealand and Thailand. Exail has recently integrated MINTACS with UMISOFTTM as part of the Mines Countermeasures Ship Modernization Program for the Latvian Navy. SfS and Exail are exploring further joint R&D activities in Australia, and this agreement is a testimony to Exail’s desire to nurture long-term partnerships with Australian industry.

Exail recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Mission Systems Pty, and in September this year announced a major partnership with Australian engineering giant UGL, as well as Acacia Systems and Total Marine Technology. These collaborations reflect Exail’s commitment to establishing a locally sovereign capability to meet and support long-term Australian defense needs, one of which is the SEA 1905 program for the Royal Australian Navy.
