Fantagio announces a new memorial spot at Gukcheongsa Temple in honor of Astro’s Moonbin.
On June 4, Astro’s agency Fantagio shared the following statement regarding the new Moonbin Memorial location:
We are Fantagio.
First of all, we express our deep gratitude to AROHA (Astro’s Official Fan Club) for personally coming to Sky Park on the 49th day after the late Moonbin’s passing, to remember Moonbin’s brightest moments together , and share sorrows while providing comfort.
We fully sympathize with Aaroha’s desire to honor Moonbin for some more time. Therefore, after a long and careful discussion with the bereaved family, we have designed an outdoor memorial space so that Aroha, who always sends unconditional love, can briefly greet Moonbin. Although Moonbin’s religion is not Buddhism, at the request of the bereaved family, we have prepared a “moon space” in an area of Gukcheongsa Temple in Namhansangseong, and it (the memorial site) has been in long-term operation since then. Jun 7th, 2023 at 5:30am KST. It can be very inconvenient as the road to Gukcheongsa is uphill and narrow, but we sincerely hope that it will become a place where AROHA can comfortably go at any time and feel at least a little bit calm and relaxed.
1. Information on hours of operation
Gukcheongsa is open from 5:30 am to 5:30 pm. By 6:30 p.m. However, make sure to arrive by at least 5:30 and leave by 6:30. Drive-in will also not be possible, so please arrive at least 5:30 if they drive in their own vehicles.
2. Addresses
Address to Namhansangseong Gukcheongsa: 105 Namhansangseong-ro 780 Gil, Namhansangseong-myeon, Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province.
As Gukcheongsa is a Buddhist temple located within the Namhansangseon Mountains, please understand that there may be many inconveniences in transportation and travel. Plus, this is a rugged hiking trail to be sure to hike on, so we recommend you bring water in advance. Foreign visitors are expected to experience various inconveniences when using taxis, so please refrain from using taxis.
3. Information on refraining from offering flowers
We would appreciate it if you would refrain from leaving food and wreaths and (just leave) letters and notes. We totally understand that they are for Moonbin, but the Buddhist temple is located in the mountains, so it is difficult to keep them intact due to insects and debris. We plan to set up a board on one side of the Moon Space to attach notes to AROHA, and we will collect them regularly and store them in a valuable way. We would appreciate it if you would drop a letter inside the mailbox located in the space.
We express our deep gratitude to the AROHAs who are always with ASTRO.
Earlier, Fantagio had moved the Moonbean Monument location to the roof of the company’s building. The current memorial location will remain open till June 6.
Rest in peace Moonbin.
