The fourth largest city of Afghanistan, known as Mazar-e-Sharif, has been captured by the militant group Taliban. Mazar-e-Sharif is the capital of one of the largest provinces of Afghanistan, Balkh. The capture of the fourth largest city of Afghanistan, Mazar-e-Sharif, is a major setback for the government of Afghanistan.
It is being said by the lawmaker of Balkh Province, Abas Ebrahimzada, that the national army of the province surrendered before the militant group of Taliban. The pro-government military lost morale and gave up on their efforts to protect Mazar-e-Sharif. The lawmaker has said that all of the major government installations and offices of the province are under the hands of the Taliban.
Almost half of the territory of Afghanistan has already been captured by the Taliban. The Taliban have nearly captured the northern, western, and southern parts of Afghanistan, and now they are heading toward the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul. The only thing that stopped the Taliban militants from capturing Afghanistan were the US troops.
The US troops protected Afghanistan, but currently, the last US troops which are left in Afghanistan have also been withdrawn as US officials are afraid that their military will be taken over by the Taliban. It raises concern over another Civil War in the country of Afghanistan.
However, the US has been trying its best to hold peace talks between the government and the Talibani group to bring some relief to the people of Afghanistan. A meeting was held in Qatar between the government and the Taliban group. Still, the peace talks are not heading toward anything. The Talibani militants are continuing their work of destruction in Afghanistan.
The Taliban militants have detained many officials who took control of major offices of places like the capital of Paktika, which is the province on the border of Pakistan. According to the lawmaker of that province, a huge fight broke out between the officials and militants in Sharana. Still, later on, everyone cooled down after the governor and other major officials surrendered themselves to the Taliban militant group.
Moreover, the militants have also taken control of Maimana province, which is one of the most populated areas and the capital of Faryab province. The battle had been going on for days in the Maimana province. Still, currently, it has been confirmed that the Taliban have taken control of the province in their hands.
In the end, we would like to conclude by saying that the Taliban groups are unstoppable against the government of Afghanistan. They have planned to take over the whole of Afghanistan, and it has been estimated that in a few days, the militant group Taliban will take all control over Afghanistan and make changes to its constitution accordingly.
