FIFA unveils logo for the 2026 World Cup for the United States, Mexico and Canada

FIFA unveiled the logo for the 2026 World Cup to be hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada. The organization’s president, Gianni Infantino, gave few details of how the logistics of the teams would go in the first-ever 48-representative tournament.

“For the first time in history, a single image of the trophy and the year of the tournament are represented, an innovative design language that anchors the emblem for 2026 and beyond,” FIFA said in a statement. “The image and year of the trophy will allow for customization to reflect the uniqueness of each host nation, while creating an identifiable brand structure for years to come,” he added.

The design chosen is a number 26 arranged vertically and the figure of the World Cup in the middle. FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Brazilian Ronaldo were in charge of unveiling it.

2026 will be the first World Cup to feature 48 teams instead of the current 32 and the first time the biggest football event on the planet will take place across three countries.

The United States will host most of the tournament and have 11 of the 16 total venues for the World Cup: Seattle, San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami and New York/New Jersey. .

Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey would be the locations on Mexican soil, while Canada, Vancouver and Toronto were the chosen cities.

“The teams competing in the 2026 World Cup will be grouped in the United States, Canada and Mexico to avoid long travel to the first leg of the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said.
