The strategic alliance between BAE Systems and L3Harris Technologies culminates in the delivery of the advanced EC-37B Compass Call aircraft to the US Air Force.
Combined test and mission system transition
The recent delivery of the EC-37B Compass Call led by BAE Systems j L3Harris Technologies marks the beginning of combined testing covering both development and operational aspects.
This system represents the evolution of four decades of missions conducted by the United States Air Force focused on the capabilities of Electromagnetic Attack (EA) in support of air, ground and special forces operations at both national and coalition levels.
BAE Systems, as prime contractor for the mission system, produces said attack equipment at its strategically located factory in Hudson, New Hampshire.
Integration and Modernization: From EC-130H to EC-37B
The technical challenge of transporting the Compass Call mission equipment out of the harsh terrain EC-130HThe integration into the sophisticated Gulfstream G550 was successfully exceeded by the team, said Jason Lambert, director of Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance by L3Harris.
Given the impending retirement of the EC-130H after 40 years of active service, the EC-37B is proving to be the advanced answer to ensure that critical electromagnetic warfare missions continue to be executed with precision for generations to come.
Dave Harrold, vice president at BAE Systems, emphasized that the delivery of the EC-37B represents a significant step forward in consolidating the electromagnetic capabilities of the US Armed Forces and keeping the country at the forefront of defense and deterrence strategies.

The mission system Compass Call: Electromagnetic Air Strike It is capable of disabling enemy communications, jamming radar and navigation systems, and neutralizing enemy air defenses, impeding the flow of critical information between weapon systems and command and control networks.
L3Harris, a leading platform integration company, has transitioned the EC-130H Compass Call system to the Gulfstream G550 aircraft, a process completed at its aviation center in Waco, Texas.
With its improvements in speed, endurance and operability at high altitudes, the EC-37B promises to improve combat survivability and maximize the impact of electromagnetic attack missions.
