Today, in 2023, Sonoran society is marked not only by the violence experienced by the entities of criminal groups but also by a crime that seems simple but provokes outrage, especially when it involves minor victims: hit and run.
In March, a woman was crossing the road, accompanied by her 3-year-old daughter and her 2-year-old nephew, when a car hit them and threw them a few meters.
Now, last November, another similar case happened, also in Hermosillo. A 4-year-old girl was hit by a car. He died instantly.
What unites these two incidents is that the alleged perpetrators fled the scene, abandoned their victims, and crossed the border into deer to defeat the authorities.
Nathan Karim was waiting for her deportation
In the first case, the woman, named Brenda, her daughter Ximena, and her niece Favré were seriously injured when they were hit when the car overtook the car in front and ran to cross the road.
They were hospitalized for several months due to a broken leg, a head injury, and several surgeries on the body and face, especially for a 2-year-old child.
The accused was identified as Nathan Karim N., a 19-year-old young man. The car he is said to be driving is owned by his mother, an officer of the Judiciary of the State of Sonora who works as a public defender.
His father, a well-known lawyer, and his mother allegedly helped him clean the car and hide it, and then he crossed the border through the Nogales checkpoint.
When the authorities found the car and identified Nathan Karim N. as the alleged culprit, they noticed his escape and filed a search file with the authorities in deer.
A few months later, on June 16, the police arrested Nathan Karim N. in the city of Tucson, Arizona, and sent him to the immigration authorities to arrest him. deportation.
Until now, the young man, who is said to be responsible for causing serious injuries due to his distraction, is still waiting to be sent to the Mexican authorities for his legal process in Mexico for the crime of murder. Luisa was five years old when he was crushed
Little Luisa Yareli was playing with her sisters and neighbors on the street of her neighborhood, in Hermosillo, on November 1. Witnesses said that a car was speeding and hit the minor in the cement.
When the paramedics treated her, they found that the girl died instantly from the wound on her head.
Luisa Yareli would have turned 5 years old on November 3. Her family, in her honor, celebrated that day with balloons, piñatas, and pizza, her favorite food.
A day after the incident, authorities identified the vehicle that caused the death of the 4-year-old minor, a white Chevrolet Tahoe, and it was secured by the Sonora Attorney General’s Office.
The alleged motorist was also identified as César N., 21 years old. Investigations by the authorities determined that, like Nathan Karim N., he fled to the deer.
Because of this, the prosecutor of Sonora, Gustavo Salas Chávez, announced that they have begun the procedures to request the search, location, and retrieval file with their American counterparts. It is also believed to be in Arizona.
“We are trying to arrest him in other places, with the support of other agencies and police in North America, we hope he will be in prison soon,” he said.
The proximity of deer causes some criminals, in their flight from justice, to cross the border to nearby states like Arizona or California.
