A flight that was supposed to go to Moscow suffered a long delay in its departure from the airport of Cayo Coco, in the province of Ciego de Ávila. Many tourists from that Eurasian country criticized the situation, which was apparently “unusual” in the said air terminal.
Such was the delay that there was an 18-hour wait for the departure of the plane on the ground in Moscow. A relative of several protagonists in waiting complained to the Russian portal Belgorod No.
“At three in the morning we checked in at the hotel and at seven they told us to board the bus. There was an uncertain moment because they didn’t feed us or say anything,” said a resident of Belgorod, who was waiting to board his flight.
Finally, the Nordwind Airlines plane returned to Moscow at approximately 09:30 am on Saturday, February 10. They were exactly 18 hours later than indicated for the crossing, according to FlightAware.
Meanwhile, Artyom Korenyako, spokesperson of Rosaviatsiya, wrote on his Telegram channel the reason for the delay. “The delay occurred due to the breakdown of the tanker truck carrying fuel at the Cuban airport on the day of departure of flight N4 552 Cayo Coco – Moscow.”
Meanwhile, the press service of the airline explained that they are “waiting for the fuel to arrive from Havana. However, by regulation the crew must rest.”
The TourDom.ru portal contacted aviation experts about the flight delay. Most agree that the delay was caused by an accidental jet fuel failure. Specialists confirmed that such a situation is not typical of the airport in the province of Ciego de Ávila.
