Follow the attack on the mile world record in New York live

The Fort Washington Armory is again the scene of the Millrose Games, one of the oldest and most important athletic competitions in the world, which this Sunday celebrates its 116th edition.

As every year, the event will feature some of the best middle-distance runners in the world, including North American Jared Nuguse and British Josh Kerr, who will seek the world record for the mile and two miles, respectively.

Yared Nuguse holds American records for the mile, 1500m, and 3000m

Nuguse, US 1500m champion and holder of four American records in the middle distance, will attack the mile world record on the Ethiopian-owned short track for five years, Yomif Kejelcha, with 3:47.01.

The Wanamaker Mile, the name given to the mile event, will also feature a Spanish presence: Mario García Romo, who won bronze in the 1500m and is the owner of the Spanish mile records, both outdoors (3:47.69) and on the short track (3:51.79).

For his part, the 1500m world champion Josh Kerr took the gold from Jakob Ingebrigsten in the last World Cup in Budapest, looking for the best 2-mile mark in the world on the short track, still held by his compatriot Mo Farah with 8:03.40.

Josh Kerr holds the UK record for the short track mile with 3:48.87

For its part, the Spanish Martha Perez will run the women’s mile with a list of stars that includes North American Elle St. Pierre.

The Ponferradina Saul Ordoñez will also be in Manhattan in the 800m trial, and Salamanca Lorraine Martin will do the same in the women’s 800m.

The event starts on Sunday, February 11 at 2:45 p.m. (local time) and can be followed live on the World Athletics channel.
