This March 25, the drummer of Foo Fighters died in Bogotá, Taylor Hawkins, the lifeless body of the famous musician was found in a hotel located north of Bogotá. The musician was in the Colombian capital to perform at the Estéreo Picnic Festival to close the first day of the event.
According to Semana Magazine, In the hotel where the band was staying, there was a group of judicial police and forensic legal medicine experts doing the respective removal of the body, cordoning off the place. Little by little, followers of the band began to arrive around the hotel to witness what was happening.
In the official account of the band, the group members published a statement in which they asked for respect for the family’s privacy and where they also expressed being devastated by the news.
“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and his infectious laugh will live with us all forever.”can be read in the message.
“Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family. We ask that his privacy be treated with the utmost respect at this unimaginably difficult time.”
The cause of the drummer’s death is still not known with certainty, although there was a precedent in 2001, since the drummer of the band led by Dave Grohl had been in a coma from a heroin overdose. According to the musician himself, he was clean since the incident.
“I was going out a lot. I wasn’t like a junkie per se, but I did party a lot. There was a year when the parties became too heavy. Thank God, in a way, that guy gave me the wrong line with the wrong thing one night and I woke up going ‘What the fuck happened?’ That was a real change for me.” assured the drummer at the time.
Before the presentation of the band at the Festival Estéreo Picnic, the organizers announced to the attendees the cancellation of the band’s presentation with the following message:
The Festival confirmed that the other presentations are still on and that those who bought individual tickets will be able to attend on Sunday to see the rest of the artists who will be on stage.
Foo Fighters, in addition, announced that all their presentations in South America are canceled while they overcome this hard blow that represents the loss of their drummer.
From different areas they have manifested themselves lamenting the death of Hawkins, among them the Embassy of the United States in Colombia, in addition to other great edges such as Ozzy Osborne, who wrote on his Twitter account:
“@TaylorHawkins was truly a great person and amazing musician. My heart, love and condolences go out to his wife, his children, his family, his band and his fans. See you on the other side”, Ozzy.
Other artists who joined the condolences for the disappearance of Hawkins were the Guns’n Roses, also posting a photo when they shared with him, “We will always miss you.”
Juanes also joined the messages saying: “Absolute sadness at the departure of Taylor Hawkins…Sincere condolences to the family @foofighters Literally in shock…”, commented the Colombian.
Of course from the place of the event, when the sad news of Hawkins’ death was given, there was commotion among the attendees who in a few minutes expected to see their favorite band. However, the Festival published the statement about the eventuality and, hand in hand with the band Black Pumas, a heartfelt minute of silence was held before they began their presentation.

Minutes later, social networks exploded with the news and the fact became a trend, which took by surprise the fans of the band who could not go to the concert and different media outlets that immediately set out to confirm the death of the American musician.


Finally, as the culmination of the first day of the Picnic Stereo Festival, the organization paid a heartfelt tribute to Taylor by filling the stage with white candles, putting on the song My Hero by the American band and writing “Taylor Hawkins forever” on the main screen.

Within the first versions that are given in front of this case of the artist, Taylor would have presented a strong pain in the chest, which immediately alerted the employees of the Casa Medina hotel where the band was staying, they called the emergency services medical, however, when they arrived Hawkins had already died.
As a preliminary, the authorities in charge of investigating what happened indicated that there are no certainties about the causes that ended the life of the Foo Fighters drummer. However, they commented “The cause of death is yet to be established, according to versions of relatives, the death could be associated with the consumption of narcotic substances.”
The musician was in the capital of Colombia to appear at the Festival Estéreo Picnic, when he was found dead at the Casa Medina hotel. For now the authorities have not released information on the cause of death of the drummer.
Taylor Hawkins is originally from Fort Worth, Texas, where he was born on February 17, 1972, but later moved to Laguna Beach, California where he would settle with his two brothers, Jason and Heather.
Hawkins was part of the band that accompanied Alanis Morissette during her Jagged Little Pill tour, which gave him international fame and would help him enter the Foo Fighters in 1997 with Dave Grohl in order to reach the top professionally and tour the world. with which for many is one of the most relevant bands of recent times in world rock.
For a time, the drummer recorded some songs on his own in a friend’s studio, a project that ended up being named Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders years later, a group that included Chris Channey and Gannim and from which it came off the self-titled debut album in early 2006.
