Former Jets runner Zach Stacy is jailed in Florida for beating his ex-girlfriend in front of the couple’s newborn son.
The 30-year-old man was arrested by Orlando police on Thursday and is being held in Orange County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, felony second degree and felonious injury, felony third degree, according to an arrest warrant received by the Daily News. …
According to the warrant, the alleged attack took place last Saturday afternoon in Oakland, about 19 miles west of Orlando.
Stacey fled after the attack. The graphic video was posted by TMZ Sports on Wednesday night.
The cops said Stacy flew from Nashville to Orlando on Thursday night where she was arrested.
Stacy played three seasons in the NFL. The early backing was picked by the Rams of Vanderbilt in 2013 and played two seasons in St. Louis before being traded for the Jets ahead of the 2015 season. His eight New York games that year were his last in the league; he participated in the CFL and the American Football Alliance in 2018 and 2019.
The woman told authorities that she was “holding out an olive branch” to Stacey when he allegedly “made physical contact” with her, hit her and threw her “against the TV, causing it to crack and fall,” the warrant says. Stacey allegedly hit her baby’s mother as she tried to stand up and then “lifted her up again and threw her onto the baby’s inflatable chair” before leaving the scene, according to the warrant.
The woman filed a restraining order against Stacy on Monday after he was already on the run.
Police indicated on Stacey’s arrest warrant that they had been at home several times this year, including a possible domestic violence case in September.
Authorities “provided security assistance” to the woman on Thursday, according to TMZ. She is now “in an unknown place.”
According to the newspaper, Stacey faces up to 15 years in prison for aggravated beatings and up to five for hooliganism.
