Free Agency Day 2: LaVine and Hellick Decide to Stay

Zach LaVine is living in Chicago. The same goes for Jusuf Narkik in Portland.

The second day of NBA free agency Friday brought another great deal, this time for LaVine, who secured the richest contract in Bulls history after signing a $215 million, five-year deal.

LaVine was technically a free agent for about 18 hours. Clutch Sports, which represents LaVine, announced the deal, in which the Bulls were able to offer the two-time All-Star and Olympic gold medalist $56 million, more than any other club could offer this summer. could do

Hellick received the biggest salary of his career so far, agreeing to a four-year, $70 million deal with Portland. Center has just completed his eighth season in the NBA, a final six with the Trail Blazers, with whom he averaged 15 points and 11.1 rebounds last season.

Michelle Robinson is one of those big guys who isn’t going anywhere, agreeing on Friday to a $60 million, four-year deal to stay with the New York Knicks.

There are some players who will change their address. Danilo Gallinari intends to sign a two-year deal with the Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics after his resignation from the San Antonio Spurs is completed, according to a person familiar with his decision. Gallinari was sent off to San Antonio this week in a trade that brought in point guard DeJonte Murray in Atlanta.

One more move: Point guard Bruce Brown Jr. decides to leave Brooklyn and sign a two-year, $13 million deal with Denver. The Browns averaged 9 points per game last season with the Nets.

Another deal that began earlier in the week was completed when five-time All-Star nominee John Wall, who was acquired by the Houston Rockets, announced that he had agreed to a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. Is. Wall was under contract this season for $47.4 million, with Houston buying him for about $41 million and the Clippers will give him the difference. He hasn’t played in the NBA since April 2021, and has appeared in 82 games, including the playoffs, over the past four-and-a-half seasons.

The champion Golden State Warriors have retrieved one of their leading free agents. He retained Kevon Looney, who played in all 104 games for the team last season, on a three-year deal that could total $26 million if the final year is fully guaranteed.

However two other players in the rotation ended up elsewhere; Gary Peyton II is headed by the Portland Trail Blazers and Otto Porter Jr. will sign with the Toronto Raptors.
