From the interim to the selection of past candidates, these are the suggestions to avoid judicial vacuum

The extension of the mandate of the current authorities of the Judicial Branch, the interim appointment of other magistrates, the extension of the mandate and the appointment of candidates who were not elected in the previous judicial elections, are the proposals that will be presented by the three forces of politics in the Legislative Assembly to avoid a vacuum in the judiciary.

“It is very complicated, if the mandate can be extended by a law, or find an interim term, although there are many rumors that they want to keep themselves in a constitutional decision. What will those do process that takes place in that period of time?” said the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Israel Huaytari.

The vice president of the State, David Choquehuanca, called a meeting with the heads of the banks of the three political forces for this Friday, from 09:00, where it is intended to find a solution to the operation of Judicial Branch, after the termination of the mandate of the current magistrates.

Regarding this, Creo representative José Carlos Gutiérrez said that they will propose the appointment of candidates who were not selected by the Legislative Assembly, in the previous preselection process. He said that the proposal has legal support, he warned that they will not allow the extension of the mandate.

“Therefore, right in Law 026, in article 79, we consider that the applicants who passed the pre-selection process, but did not enter the vote, must take over. Since they have not yet held the position of magistrate, it is up to them to assume the position on a temporary basis, at least for six months,” he explained.

His colleague from the Citizen Community (CC), Enrique Urquidi indicated that they will present their proposal to declare to the commission the judges and members who perform their duties in the same courts where they will be temporarily appointed – six months – as national magistrates, but he assured that they will not allow the extension of the mandate of the current magistrates.

“We will go to all the political will to discuss, we will present our proposal and it will definitely be analyzed, as well as the methods of other party forces. But an extension of the mandate will not be allowed,” he said.

The dissident senator of the CC Silvia Salame proposed to approve a short law that allows the Departmental Court of Justice of Chuquisaca to recognize the management of the Judicial Branch, such as the payment of salaries and management procedures to avoid court closings and service cuts.

On the other hand, Arcista MAS deputy Rolando Cuellar proposed a bill to extend the mandate of the current magistrates until the judicial elections are held, although he did not mention any deadlines for the elections.
