Mehul Choksi, a fugitive accused of PNB scam who escaped from the Caribbean island of Antigua, has been captured from Dominica.
Diamond executive Mehul Choksi is accused in a Rs 13,500 crore PNB scam. He has been living in the Caribbean since he absconded in January 2018 in connection with an ongoing case against him in India. But Mehul Choksi, who has been absconding for the last 3 days, has been caught in Dominica.
Mehul Choksi had been missing since Sunday, May 23
Mehul Choksi, a fugitive accused in the PNB scam, had fled the Caribbean island of Antigua on Sunday, the 23rd, for three days. He also had Caribbean citizenship. Antigua police said in a statement that Choksi was last seen in his car on Sunday. Police conducted a search operation and found his car but no trace of Choksi. Choksi’s lawyer Vijay Agarwal said on Tuesday that Mehul Choksi has been missing since Sunday.

Interpol’s red corner notice issued against Choksi
News that Mehul Choksi, accused in a Rs 13,500 crore PNB scam, has gone to Dominica is being investigated. The CBI is trying to get Mehul’s whereabouts based on various media reports and inputs to take further action. The CBI has approached Interpol in this regard. At the request of the CBI, Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice against Choksi.
Fraud of Rs 14,000 crore in PNB SCAM
The Punjab National Bank scam has caused a stir across the country. The PNB scam of more than Rs 13,000 crore was against the misuse of some rules of the banks. The scam was carried out ignoring arrangements such as Letter of Undertaking and Swift Transfer. According to the investigating agencies, Nirav Modi and his mama Mehul Choksi, along with some bank officials, committed fraud of Rs 14,000 crore with Punjab National Bank. This fraud was committed by letter of guarantee.
