Gajendra Shekhawat attacked the opposition, said- it would have been better if the election was conducted unopposed

Vice President Candidate: Elections for the post of Vice President of the country are to be held on 6 August. The NDA on Saturday surprised everyone by declaring West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar as its candidate. At the same time, today the opposition has made Margaret Alva its candidate for the post of Vice President. Regarding this, Union Minister Gajendra Shekhawat has taken a jibe at the opposition candidate. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that we have majority and there is no chance for any other candidate. The Union Minister said that it would have been even better if the opposition had conducted the Vice Presidential election unopposed.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that I welcome the name chosen by the opposition for the post of Vice President. The people of the country know that the kind of majority in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha with the BJP-led alliance, there is no scope for any other candidate. He said that it would have been better if the opposition had postponed the process of this election and elected this election unopposed to the Vice President.

Such was the political journey of Margaret Alva
Alva started the political innings by joining the Indian National Congress 5 decades ago in 1969. Five years later, she was elected to the Upper House of the Parliament. From 1975 to 1976, he served on the Executive Committee of the Congress Parliamentary Party. Elected to the Rajya Sabha for the first time in 1974, Alva was re-elected in 1980, 1986 and 1992. In 1985, following the assassination of Indira Gandhi and the resounding electoral victory of Rajiv Gandhi, Alva was appointed as the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Sports, Women and Child Development within the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Margaret Alva has been the governor of many states
In the same year, Alva participated in the third United Nations World Conference on Women in Nairobi, and upon her return to India, was instrumental in setting up the Planning Commission (now NITI Aayog) and a women’s cell within several ministries. Alva, who has also been the governor of Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Goa and Gujarat, was named after a meeting of opposition parties at NCP supremo Sharad Pawar’s residence.
