Dan Dunning (4-0) got a solid start in place of the injured Jacob deGrom. He allowed one run in six innings in his third start since deGrom went on the disabled list with elbow inflammation on April 29.
The right-hander has won two of those games, and his other two wins came when he relieved deGrom, who was forced to step off the mound due to health issues.
Dunning walked four without walking and threw 60 of his 92 pitches for strikes. Will Smith, Texas’s fourth reliever, retired the ninth in order with eight saves in nine chances.
