The Genius Association and the Tourism area of the City Council promote theatrical representation of “Taking offices” or insulations. This is a history reenactment of the selection of Council positions that took place between the 15th and 18th centuries.
The performance, in which more than 70 people will participate, will take place in the Cathedral Square, starting at 12:30 in the afternoon. The Genius Association and City Council invite the people of Huesca to attend this event, which is in its fifth edition.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod is committed to promoting this event as an important and different tourist attraction in the city. It should also serve to develop the dissemination of the history of Huesca based on movable heritage (such as the ark of in saculatinsulationsates back to 1668 or the d,ocumentation of the town hall minutes) and intangible heritage, such as the entertainment of “Taking trades”.
To highlight the day, in the Renaissance courtyard of the Town Hall, the Ark of inInsaculationsill be displayed on the morning of November 1. It is a drawer where the names of candidates who will hold council positions for one year are entered to determine who will occupy each position.
The procedure is carried out throughout the Crown of Aragon, but Huesca has something that other cities do not have. The first, was the ark of 1668 (the last one to be built), with the bags, the redolent trees, and the scrolls with the original names. Minutes of all council decisions are also kept in the town hall archive, bound in regimental yearbooks.
In Huesca, there is a Ceremony of 1620 where drawing techniques are explained in detail. The Genius Association is based on that ceremony to promote the event that will celebrate its fifth edition on November 1, 2023.
From that document, a representation of a great day in Huesca was scripted. The costumes, the procedures, and even the ark were recreated (in a facsimile close to the real thing). The entity added didactic elements, conflict, humor, and the choice of the current Huesca citizens, to reach the audience of surprise and interest that the draw for positions between neighbors created in his day.
